Children, Chores and Cooperation

Here’s another great parenting Quick Tip from Susan M.
Cooperation: ” My 2 year old son has a difficult time switching gears. For example, when he is engulfed in play time, he cannot easily switch to the mind set of performing chores such as changing a diaper or getting dressed to leave the house. So, whenever I need him to cooperate with me and do something I ask, I get into the game he is playing at the time and continue it into the new task. If he is playing “airplanes” I pick up one of the planes and “fly” it into his room and make a request to the control tower to land it on the changing table. He loves it and doesn’t even notice that his diaper is being changed or that I am dressing him for the day.”

Rewarding Good Behavior

Quick Tip: Rewarding Children Ages 3 and Up
One unique way to reward children is by buying or making tickets. The child gets a ticket for each thing they do right. They later can exchange their tickets for gifts or rewards (such as free movie night or 15 minutes extra play time). Make rewards equal to a few tickets. This not only teaches the child to behave well, but also teaches them how to save and work for what they want. It is a fun and easy game.
If you have a lot of kids and you don’t want to make your own tickets, why not save time by purchasing a cheap roll of event tickets. You can find them here: tickets
